Telangana University was established in 2006. It is a state university located in Nizamabad,Telangana. The University is the first among the recently shaped colleges in the state to get the University Grant Commission (UGC). It is the 3rd biggest University next just to Osmania University (Hyderabad) and Kakatiya University (Warangal) in Telangana State. The University is also the first among the recently shaped Universities in the state to launch Ph.D program in 13 disciplines.

Telangana University has three unique campuses i.e., Main Campus at Dichpally, South Campus at Bhiknoor and the Third Campus is at Sarangapur.

VISION, MISSION & OBJECTIVES

Vision of the University ::

"To achieve world class standards in academic excellence by imparting skill-based and quality higher education for the empowerment of rural youth by using innovative technology-driven learning methods and strengthening capacity building with sustainable development by introducing professional courses and outreach programmes, keeping in view the vistas of International collaboration and effective governance."

Vision of the University is drafted with a view to attain the following goals:

1. To design and execute academic programs to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirement.

2. To produce graduates with knowledge, high values, integrity and to be best citizens of the country.

3. To design awareness programs with focus on entrepreneurship and job market/ vocationalization.

4. To follow innovative teaching and learning pedagogy and promote skill development among the rural youth thus making the University a potential center of excellence.

5. To focus on capacity building, sustainable development and effective governance of the University.

6. To internationalize the curriculum for seeking jobs in the global market and teaching people working in the domestic environment to face the complexities of multidimensional phenomena-Globalization.

7. To strengthen research activities by introducing Ph.D programmes, undertaking research projects from various funding agencies and provide consultancy services.

8. To organize International, National and State level Seminars / Conferences / Work-shops / Symposium on various burning topics with a view to enrich knowledge and practical skills.

9. To build global competencies and encourage the placement programmes and campus interviews for successful students.

10. To establish alumni association in order to strengthen the programmes to match the requirements of changing times.

Steps are being taken to develop spacious play ground opposite to classroom complex and girls hostel. Massive plantation is going on to make the Telangana University into a Green-Campus. The plantation works were also taken up under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The campus will soon have avenue trees, Nursery beds and landscape designing.

Dichpally campus[edit]

  • The campus of Telangana University is located abutting the National High Way 44 (formerly NH 7) at Dichpally, which is 13 km away from the Nizamabad city and the located on Hyderabad and Nagpur National Highway.
  • Dichpally Station is the nearest railway station. Nizamabad has a train route in Secunderabad-Manmad section of the South Central Railway.
  • There is a bus almost every 10 minutes from the TSRTC Jubilee Bus Station of Secunderabad to Nizamabad, which is located at around 140 km distance from Secunderabad.
  • The campus is connected to the Hyderabad and Nagpur highway. The town of Armoor is just 22 kilometers from the campus and town of Kamaredy is 40 kilometers from the campus.
  • The campus hosts professional courses like LL.B., LL.M., M.B.A and M.C.A.

South Campus Bhiknoor[edit]

The postgraduate college, Bhiknoor, was started in 1976 under the Six Point Formula programme with the objective of establishing postgraduate centres in rural areas. It was established under Osmania University. PG College Bhiknoor commenced with M.Sc. (Chemistry) with specialization in Agrochemicals, Fertilizers, Pesticides as job-oriented courses with an intake of 12 students. Some students have gone on to pursue Ph.D programmes.

The South campus of Bhiknoor has about 50 acres. Bhiknoor PG Centre was taken over by Telangana University from Osmania University during 2010 and is renamed as Telangana University South-Campus, Bhiknoor. A few courses have been shifted from Main Campus to South-Campus, Bhiknoor. The campus offers four courses where 250 students are pursuing their studies. The South campus has recognition for M.Sc. Organic Chemistry course. A number of students of M.Sc. Organic Chemistry were selected for a CSIR Junior Research Fellowship.

Academic programmes[edit]

During 2006 the university started with six programmes with an intake of 28 in each programme and added seven more programmes in 2007. Five more courses were launched in 2008 thus raising the total number of courses offered at Telangana University to 18 with an intake capacity to 28 in all the postgraduate programmes except MBA, MCA & LLB which has an intake of 30 each.

It has the jurisdiction over 2 districts-Adilabad and Nizamabad.

The university provide following facilities to its students:

  • Hostel: All the students are provided with adequate hostel accommodation.
  • Laboratory: The school has well-outfitted research centers and laboratories with all the vital devices and instruments. A Computer research facility with six frameworks is an additional appealing element of its campus.
  • Central Library: The library has a decent assortment of reading material, the most recent reference books, and gathered volumes.
