Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (earlier known as National Law University Haryana), Rai, Sonepat (hereinafter abbreviated as DBRANLU) was established by the State Government of Haryana in the year 2012 vide State Legislature Act No. 15 of 2012. DBRANLU is the first fully residential National Law University in Haryana.

As a tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, a great visionary, social reformer and architect of our present legal system and craftsman of our Constitution, the State Legislature of Haryana through an amendment in 2014, changed the name of the University to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Rai, Sonepat. A state-of-theart campus has been constructed in the education hub of India –Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Rai, Sonepat falling under National Capital Region – where more than thirteen renowned educational Institutions/ Universities are located. The University provides a positive and congenial environment for legal education and professional training besides the overall development of students. It is well connected by Air, Rail and Road to all major points of State and the Nation with a distance of approx. 30 KMs from National Capital Delhi, and approx. 215 KMs. from State Capital Chandigarh. The University has been approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) since 2019. It got registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Presently DBRANLU is offering B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated programme. This Programme is interdisciplinary and follows the Semester System wherein Social Sciences subjects like Economics, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught along with Law subjects in the first two years of study. From the third year onwards, the curriculum comprises all Law subjects. The successful students are awarded B.A.LL.B. (Honours) Degree with specialization.

The teaching methodology is holistic which includes extensive and intensive classroom teaching with an emphasis on participative practical learning. The Courses include assignments, symposiums, seminars, field visits and project works.

The course is designed to keep in view the balanced requirements of society as well as Industry with pragmatic professionalism and research-based teaching-learning inputs.
