Vice Chancellor Message

Rajendra University, Balangirbegan its journey as an Intermediate College in 1944 by the handholding care of the visionary former Chief Minister of Odisha and the most benevolent ruler of Patna State, Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singhdeo. The institution was upgraded to a degree college in 1946. After imparting high quality education for more than five decades, the College gained autonomous status in 2002. This is the same institution, which served as a lighthouse to show the right path to many dignitaries and achievers of the region. Upon completion of its glorious journey for more than three-fourths of a century, this premier institution has been upgraded to a State Public Universityof Odisha since 1st September, 2020, with responsibility on our collective shoulders to make it an adorable University of the State and with the passage of time a great University of the country.

I consider it a matter of great privilege to nurture the dream of a great visionary of the State. Our endeavour will be to become a centre of intellectual excellence that will help in the overall development of this region and will attract students from all over the State and beyond, for its high quality curricular and extra-curricular activities and original research in the coming years. The students must learn all the essential 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, innovation and collaboration to prepare themselves for gainful employment. At the same time, the students must also learn democratic values like respect for the Constitution, respect for others, etiquette, courtesy and a spirit of service with a view to becoming responsible citizens of the country.

I solicit the participation of all stakeholders to make Rajendra University a much sought after multi-disciplinary education and research centre.
